This change would allow players not on the DL in real life to be put on our DL if they are obviously out for an extended amount of time. I know obvious is not a good word but I think as a league we will be able to determine if a player is just missing a start due to some soreness or out 3 months due to an injury.

I agree with this rule change, but I think we need to be careful how we word it. I don't think we want to allow owners to use this rule to put players on the DL a day early, before their team gets around to doing it. For example, Mike Trout has a season ending injury on a Sunday in May, but the Angels have an off-day on Monday and don't put him on the DL until Tuesday. Should the owner be able to put him on the DL on Sunday?
If we word it such that this is only allowed before opening day, when rosters expand in September, or if a player is not on the 25 man roster (e.g. Urias), then I think we would prevent that loophole.

Agreed....I would clean up the wording but was just getting the general rule out there. We would write it so it was clear to the whole league what it was for and pretty much what you stated is what the rule is for.
