Option 1 - Leave it as is
Option 2 - When a player is coming off a tag (RFA or Franchise), that player can not be tagged. If the new team that wins the player in free-agency assigns the player a 1 year deal, they will not be allowed to tag that player. If the new team gives the player a 2+ year deal, then they will be allowed to be tagged after the contract expires.

Nice time to have this rule change when some of us have money tied up and others have cleared all their salary in bogus trades. Funny rule comes up now when theres so many good players coming off tags and some have lots of money. I say if rule goes through its instituted the following yr. That way it shows it's being done for betterment of league and not for personal gain. JMO.

The rule needs to be effective right away for this year’s free agency because their are so many good ones not the other way around.

I disagree because some teams are able due to cap to bid that much. Teams weren't designed for new rule. I disagree. Agree with the change just not timing. But again whatever. Rich get richer. Kind of why leagues so lopsided. I will vote no since it will be a change right away. Again JMO.

Just saying unless you're in the big 4 or 5 of tons of money you d be stupid to vote this in and allow those 4 or 5 teams to eat up all the superstars and have them the next 5 to 6 yrs. That's why you shouldnt have rule changes because not every team is in the same spot each yr. Wonder if some of you would vote yes to this rule if you didnt have tons of cap. I knew there was a reason some were clearing their payroll. For this new rule. Things that make you go hummmnnnn.

This rule change is for preventing people trying to tag a player after only giving them a one year deal.
Not sure where your concerns really apply. No matter if the rule change goes into effect now or next season, owners winning players this year has the same long term options either way.

also if you do get a top player for 30m and they franch his its not 14m per year its like 120% of 30m... i dont think it really effects the league in a negative way. And if they do go 30M andfor only 1 year its gives other teams a chance next year

Franchise tag should be like NFL one yr. I mean really Bryant for 3 yrs at 14 mil. Not very realistic. Hed go for tons more and worth alt more.

Lol this is not the NFL with a 53 man roster and 32 teams.
And your points are old ones and not shared by majority of the owners. We like the franchise tag the way it is. We have already voted on that many times.

And also in the NFL like the Steelers did with Le’Veon Bell, you can franchise a player more than once. So team control is not just one year

DBA - I am trying to figure out what you are fully saying - implementing this rule right now helps those with no cap this year and hurts those with cap this year.
I have 75M in cap space - I'd LOVE to bid 30M on Trout and Harper and only give them 1 year contracts and RFA them both next year - at worst I will get two first round comp picks out of them.
