The Braves are targeting the first week of May for the season debut of Ronald Acuña Jr. (knee).
The team had discussed using Acuña Jr. only as a designated hitter in late April before eventually working him into the outfield. However, now they are planning to use him both as a DH and outfielder beginning in early May. Acuña Jr., of course, is working his way back from ACL surgery. “He’s got to go through the process,” manager Brian Snitker said. “There [are] timelines the doctors have. He’s doing everything. He’s right where he needs to be at this point in the rehab. Everybody feels really good about where he is at.”
