This would allow teams to acquire compensatory picks if they do not match their RFA players. This would make it more like real life where teams get compensatory picks for players lost. The round would be decided on by a 3 team committee and teams would know the round before the player was won in free agency. I am looking at doing sandwich picks but it has also been talked about teams giving up their picks. Aka if Turtles signed Paul Goldschmidt and Expos didn't match, Expos would get Turtles first round pick.
These would be picks for the following year. So the picks would be awarded for 2015 offseason not this offseason.
Per discussion on board...this would be based off the AAS the player got in free agency. Numbers will be decided upon if this passes. So the 3 person committee would not be in effect.

I think you should base the compensation based upon their salary they receive in FA.. like 10m AAS or above 1st Rd Comp, 5-10m 2nd Rd, 2-5m 3rd Rd, all others 4th Rd, something like that. I would make it like MLB, if you sign a RFA player, u lose that round pick, and team losing the RFA player gets a comp pick. However, losing the picks would be complicated if teams already traded that pick away. so maybe just adding in comp/sandwich picks is the way to go instead of losing a pick.

Comp picks will be given to RFA tags not matched.
