Franchise Tags
Several ideas have been thrown out there about changing the Franchise Tag. Here are a few.
- Change tag to $17M for 3 years or $14m for 2 years. - Change it from $14m for 3 years to $14m for 1 year, then allow player to be RFA the next year. - Change franchise tag to Arbitration Salary Contract. * The player's salary would depend on their performance in real life. Example: Trout rookie deal expires after 2015 season and was a Top 10 player. Trout's 2016 salary would be $20M. If he was a 11-25 player his salary would be $14M, if he was 26-50 his salary would be $10m. In 2017 his salary would either stay the same or it would increase to the next level depending on the players performance. In 2018 his salary would either stay the same or it would increase to the next level depending on the players performance. In 2019 he would become a free agent.
Just some ideas of mine and some I saw others post.
