AAS will be used for all contracts except for the inaugural season. When you win a player using the AAS, they have to have that AAS for their contract. You will be able to backload/frontload their contracts, which is explained below.
When signing a player to a contract, you may backload or frontload the contracts, but can not exceed the 30% limit. What this means is that if a player has a $1M AAS, their salary can not be more than $1.3M and not less than $700K for any given year.
For example, I win player A in FA bidding at $3M AAS. I can set up his contract like this: 12: $2.1M, 13: $2.1M, 14: $3.9M, 15: $3.9M
