How much do we want to make the annual ante for??
There also will be a $10 charge on top of this for league membership and dues. This will go towards a site that we will use for scoring. KC and I will look at sites during the off-season and then decide which one to use. Fantrax is changing next year and if we decide to stay with Fantrax, we will have to purchase it

Looks as if we will be playing for $30 a team next year.
Dues will be due next March. It will be $40 a team and $10 of that will go towards league membership/league site.

Yahoo is free and you can set it up in a keeper mode. Im sure it would also take all settings that you have.

I assume that the ENTIRE $10 will go towards paying for a site and that the commish's are not pocketing any "commish fee". I trust you, but I would like to know what site we are using that is going to cost $140 to use. Like Expos said, we can use Yahoo for free.

Yahoo doesn't have all the minor league players and it doesn't have a chat system.

We will probably use Fantrax. If so it won't be $10 a team for the site but shit if we got a commish fee it would be well deserved. Not sure people realize how much we actually do everyday for this league. Almost a full time job.

The majority of it will be used for the fantrax fee (if that is the option which is looking like the best site to me). Yes part of that I consider it to be a league membership fee. I think BWS will understand as we get further into the season, but KC and I have to put a lot of time into the league. With our first year under our belt, it is even going to be more time consuming next year b/c we will not be flexible on the rules (like minor league player max, DL players, etc). Let alone next year I will be keeping an excel spreadsheet on every team to make sure they are in legal standing. I bet during the year, we prolly spent an average of about 2-3 hours a day working on the league. I have spent well over 300 hours just for this league. That is not even counting the time I spend on my time with researching and all that. I want this to be one of the best leagues out there and I know that will come with a price of spending my free time on it and that is something I am willing to do.
Hope you all enjoyed your first season in this league and hope you all will enjoy it for years to come.

Thank you for all the time you put in. If you ever need some help I would be happy to. This is by far the best league I play in and I want to make sure that this league will be around for a long time.

I agree that this is a great league and I have no plans of leaving it, and I realize that it takes a considerable amount of time to run (and we all appreciate the time put in), but I really hate it when people charge a membership fee. You are setting yourself up for people to throw a fit everytime you guys screw something up (some already do).
For example, normally I would not complain if you guys are a little behind on a trade or waiver claim (although some people do), but if I am going to be "paying" for your services then I will be taking a different stance. Nearly everybody in this league is willing to help where help is needed, and we are ALL taking a lot of time to make this league great.
That being said, I would have no problem with the rest of the league covering Turtles and KC's portion of the website fee. I just do not like the idea of you guys pocketing any money from running a fantasy league.
I would also like to point out that I practice what I preach, and I will not ever charge any kind of membership fee in the football league (for those of you that are in it). I feel that league payouts should always be 100% (other than any costs of a website and what not), but that is just my two cents. If nobody else has a problem with this, then I will keep quiet and grudgingly pay my dues each year.

Big Willie I understand your concerns but trust me were not making any money off this league lol. If their is a membership fee it would be less than $5 per team. But most likely 100% or damn close to it will go towards winnings and the website

The point is, 5 bucks per team is enough to make it so you and Turtles play for free, while we are all ponying up 40 bucks. Its not the money so much that I am worried about, its the principal. We have all decided to play for money next year. Why should you guys get to play for the pot and not pay anything to get in? Just doesn't seem right. It should be 100%, not "damn near 100%".
Again, I am not trying to start shit with you and/or Turtles. I like you both and I don't think you are trying to screw us or anything. I just don't think it is right that you guys will be playing for free in a league where you can win money. Not that the pot is going to be a fortune or anything, but still. League fee should be the $30 we all voted on, plus a website fee divided by 14. Or like I said, divide the website fee by 12 so you and Turtles don't have to pay that couple of bucks.

So what is the $35 entry free for? I get the $5 a team for the website fee, but I haven't found a payout listing anywhere on the site. Is it a winner take all? Or do the top three teams get paid? What?

I think that will be up for vote. My guess is all teams that make the playoffs will get some sort of money. I personally don't think a winner take all would be very good considering that one week could be the difference between $0 and almost $500.

I think all playoff teams should get money. I think the playoff losers in the 1st round should get around $20-25 each and then build up from there.

I don't think Turtles has decided the exact payout amounts but I don't think it will be winner gets all.

I made my payment 1/30/13. It was returned to me today. Reason was: The reason for the return is as follows: No Account/Unable to Locate. I had gotten a confirmation previously. The confirmation was from League Safe for Best Damn League Period. At the site I could see Baltimore had his payment in before me.

We will keep an eye on it. It still says all of our payments are pending so not sure what the deal is.

3 owners have paid. Not sure if Turtles has set a deadline but think it should be before the season starts.

I think we should see the exact payouts before paying any money yet.

What does the payout have anything to do with you paying?

$480 in total payments
Site fee - Around $60
Left to pay - about $420
Payout will be close to:
1st - $200 2nd - $125 3rd - $65 4th - $30

I'm ok with those amounts but another option is slightly lowering the 1st and 2nd place amounts and allowing the 5th and 6th place teams to also get about $30 or $35 that way all playoff teams get $ but im good with what ever since they dont hand out money to last place teams.

I agree with Kansas City. Everyone should have money if they make the playoffs.

So that we know what our potential payout is.. you wouldn't go pay something down front without knowing what you would get... right?
How about these payouts: 140 100 80 40 30 30
First place still receives $110 more than the $30 put in the prize fund, which is 466% return. I'd say that is plenty. And also, all playoff teams receive their prize fund back at minimum.
Thoughts?

Well first of all we don't have 3rd or 4th place teams. 5th and 6th place both lost in 1st round of playoffs and 3rd and 4th lost in 2nd round. So here is my idea
Champion: $160 Runner-up: $100 2nd rd loser: $50 2nd rd loser: $50 1st rd loser: $30 1st rd loser: $30

I couldn't disagree more...paying out 6 teams would pay out to 43% of the teams in our league which is way too high...pretty much finish in the top half and you will get money back. The point of this league is to win so I believe the winner should be compensated. The goal isn't to finish 6th overall.
We can ask other people and see what they say...but I am 100% against paying 6 (almost half) teams

If you are against paying half the teams (or 6) then maybe 6 teams shouldn't make the playoffs? You are rewarding them in that case.. why is this different?
